Active ingredients properties:

Liberon is an auxiliary food source of alkaloids (harmine, harmaline, harmolole), flavonoids (chrysin, puerarine, daidzin, daidzein) and other biologically active substances, contained in the extracts of Passiflora incrarnata and Kudzu medicinal plants. The action of all Liberon ingredients is clinically confirmed.

Passiflora incarnata

The main active components that determin the biological effects of Passiflora incarnate are alkaloids (harmine, harmaline, harmolole), which repress monoamine oxidase ferment, stipulating the serotonin, noradrenaline and dophamine concentration in the synaptic cleft, and the amelioration of mediators transportation between neuron terminals (nerve cells). In this way Passiflora incarnata extract exhibits marked antidepressive properties. The most active flavonoid of Passiflora incarnate is chrysin, which is a partial agonist of benzodiazepine receptors, has a sedative (calming), anxiolytic and gentle drowsy effect. The methanolic extract of Passiflora incarnate has a peripheral and central restorative antinociceptive activity, intermediated by the GABA modulation and the opiate receptors. The use of Passoflora incarnate flowers extract significantly reduces the manifestations when withdrawing benzodiazepines, alcohol, morphine, nicotine and marihuana (Dhawan K., 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004). The effect of Passiflora incarnate is analogous to the effect of disulphiram for dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH) ferment inhibition, as a result the level of neural dopamine increases, which may have a significant impact on the behavior modification, concerning the search for drugs.

Kudzu extract (Pueraria montana var. lobata)

Kudzu (Pueraria montana var. lobata) is classified among the 50 most important plants of the traditional Chinese medicine. It has been used thousands years for control of alcohol withdrawal syndrome and intoxication treatment. The studies undertaken highlight that at least one of the plant’s extract main isoflavones, daidzin, is able to change the central serotonergic and catecholaminergic transmitters, which are important for alcohol effects realization ((Gao et al., 2001; Keung, 2003; Rooke et al., 2000). Moreover, in virtue of mitochondrial ALDH2 inhibition, daidzin blocks the metabolic route of serotonin to the 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HIAA) and dophamine to 3,4 dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC), contributing to the normalization of neurotransmitters data level in the brain synapse. Puerarine, one of the most known isoflavones found in Kudzu root extract, is a vasodilating agent and is approved for such a usage in China in case of heart or brain attack (Wu et al., 2014). The studies, undertaken by Gilead Sciences Inc., have shown the opportunity to use Kudzu extract for cocaine addiction treatment.
